As soon as the first snow falls, the Salzkammergut transforms into a winter fairytale. From Villa Salzweg you reach some of the loveliest winter activities in the region within minutes — whether ski tours, cross-country or relaxed sledding.
Ski touring & snowshoeing around the Predigstuhl
Several marked ski-touring and snowshoe routes start from the Predigstuhl car park above Bad Goisern – ideal for beginners. The Rossmoos loop is short and easy-going. More rewarding is the tour towards the Hütteneck, with one of the finest views of the Dachstein, the Sarstein and the Hallstättersee. For intermediate tourers, the Loserhütte and the Goiserer Hütte are the classics.

Cross-country skiing
The most reliable are the high-altitude trails at the Predigstuhl at around 1,000 m: a network for classic and skating, from the easy family trail to sporty loops. The valley trails in St. Agatha and Ramsau are only groomed when there is enough snow. All cross-country trails in Bad Goisern are free of charge.
Sledding for the whole family
The Trockentann toboggan run is only about 4 minutes by car from the villa. A good 40-minute walk takes you up to the toboggan hut, which is open daily when there is enough snow. At the top, a mug of Schnapstee (hot tea with a dash of schnapps) awaits before you race back down to the valley. Sleds can be borrowed free of charge at the car park (not up at the hut), and in the evening the toboggan run is lit.
