Slightly less ambience, but in return arguably the best pastries in Bad Goisern and very good cakes — Café from our baker Leitner Kurti in the Baumhaus. The "Baumhaus" is located on the main road next to the Spar; the building also houses a pharmacy and a sports shop. The café offers various breakfast combinations, a sales counter for baked goods and also warm dishes. You can enjoy your breakfast inside or outside.

Right in the village, opposite the Bad Goisern town hall, lies the Kulturcafé Maislinger. Beside pastries and cakes there's an especially recommended kitchen that invites not only for breakfast and brunch but also delivers really good warm dishes. Behind the café is a small nice garden.

Various breakfast variations, homemade cakes and snacks are offered here. Plus small souvenirs from regional providers can be bought. A generous terrace with a view of the market square invites you to people-watch.

Traditional home cooking and changing daily specials await you at the Weissenbachwirt. A cosy garden, plus very good cakes, round off the offer. The Weissenbachwirt is widely known for arguably the biggest dumplings in Goisern.

High above Bad Goisern, on the Wurmstein right at the start of the Predigtstuhl ascent, sits the newly opened Berghotel Predigstuhl. The generous breakfast buffet (open to day guests too!) is worth the trip on its own. At lunchtime a small, fine menu with alpine specialities — perfect after a hike. In the evening hearty regional cuisine with a rotating daily set menu; host Kevin personally selects wine and beer.

The highlight is the sun terrace with one of the most beautiful views into the Goisern valley — Hallstättersee, Hütteneck and Sarstein in panorama. Reservation recommended (spontaneous guests also welcome).

Idyllically located on the shore of the Hallstättersee, the Seeraunzn is a perfect stop on the east-shore path. The small inn is open from the end of April to the end of October and offers very good home cooking. The fish dishes and the tasty fried chicken are also recommended. The Seeraunzn is reachable by car, on foot, by bike — or, with a booking, even by boat!

Near the Sophienbrücke is the rustic Rassingmühle. In what is arguably the most beautiful garden directly on the Traun, cold platters and drinks are served. The place sits in one of the oldest buildings in Bad Goisern.

The completely newly renovated Steegwirt is Bad Goisern's only Gault-Millau-rated restaurant. This beautiful building with its sweeping garden offers creative cuisine at top level.

The winding road up to Wurmstein, on the sunny side of Goisern, leads you to the Rathlucken hut. It lies at the start of the relaxed trail through the Ewige Wand. The kitchen at the Rathlucken hut comes highly recommended — both warm meals and cold platters.

Good hearty cuisine and the occasional creative dish await you at the Hotel Moserwirt too. The hotel and inn sits in the old Goisern centre on Kirchengasse. The garden offers a pleasant and quiet ambience in summer. The lunch menu is recommended — three courses + drink at a sensational price.

Right in the village, next to the Mühlbach, sits the Goisererhof restaurant. Good hearty cuisine, a generous salad buffet and a good price/quality ratio in a beautiful setting characterise this restaurant.

In the middle of Lauffen, next to the pilgrimage church "Maria im Schatten", lies the Kaffeehaus & Restaurant Kaiserin Elisabeth in a beautifully renovated historic building. Very good Austrian cuisine, super lunch menus with top price/quality and freshly made cakes invite you to feast. The building also houses a crib museum with a large collection of historic Christmas cribs.

Culinary specialities from Syria are offered at Kostbar Syriana. Ursula Steinbauer and Shadi Alosta cook not only falafel, hummus and sujuk but also delicious, varied burgers that definitely satisfy. Occasionally the little restaurant also offers cultural variety with readings or concerts.

Also on Kirchengasse, opposite Moserwirt, sits this lovely little pizzeria. The pizzas aren't huge, but they taste very good. In summer the quiet garden is open; otherwise the indoor restaurant is also cosy.

Between Nah & Frisch and the Protestant church sits Pizzeria Peppone. Thanks to its proximity to Villa Salzweg, it's great for a walk or for pizzas to take away. A good salad buffet, plus pizza and pasta, are on offer here.

Right on the main road and quickly reachable by car sits Restaurant Elite's. Completely newly renovated, Elite's offers a wide selection of good dishes that can be enjoyed on site in a nice setting or taken away. There's kebab, burgers, pizza, pasta dishes, Mexican, risotto and much more. Overall a good price/quality ratio.

Right on the main road and quickly reachable by car sits Restaurant Deli Bistro. Completely newly built and with a very stylish ambience, in the Deli you're treated to a selection of regional dishes, pizza, fine salads and big burgers. The Deli Bistro is the only restaurant in Bad Goisern with a delivery service — you can simply order via WhatsApp.

If you fancy a pizza or doner kebab, you're in good hands at Musti's Kebap and Pizza. The small snack place is next to the Struger gun shop at the passage to Kirchengasse.

If you fancy something Asian, the China Restaurant Gen Ley is recommended. Good Chinese cuisine at top prices is on offer. The food is takeaway only and can be eaten at home.

The Werkstattbeisl is the cosiest pub in the village and sits in the courtyard of Schloss Neuwildenstein at the market square. There is often live music ("Wochen-Teilen" on Wednesdays), cold platters, plus a beer from the Atterseer brewery. In the warm summer months the courtyard in Schloss Neuwildenstein becomes a garden with beautiful ambience. On some days there are special food offers from the Kredenz snack place right next door.
