Spa, wellness & thermal baths

On rainy days — or simply when your feet need a break after three days of hiking — the thermal baths around Bad Goisern are your salvation. Salt and brine are a long tradition here, and pretty much every spa in the area has picked up on it. Plus a few fine smaller addresses for massage and care.

Tips & recommendations

Eurotherme Bad Ischl

Brine pools, outdoor lazy river, "Relaxium" sauna world and Alhambra treatment.

15 min by car (12 km)

The Salzkammergut Therme is all about "salt and brine". Here you find varied bathing fun in brine pools or brine whirlpools. In the outdoor area you can drift along the "Lazy River" past several stations. Through salt grotto, gradiation works and bubble loungers, the lazy river winds from one highlight to the next. The "Relaxium" sauna world offers various relaxation options. With the Oriental-inspired "Alhambra" wellness treatment you can really be pampered.

Narzissenbad Bad Aussee

Quiet, with salt grotto, brine steam bath and impressive mountain panorama.

18 min by car (17 km)

The Narzissentherme in Bad Aussee offers an impressive view of the mountain world. For relaxation you find a salt grotto with salt lake, a brine inhalation steam bath, a relax pool, a brine-infused outdoor pool and the Narzissen pool with bubble and massage loungers. For swimmers, three lanes are reserved in the multifunction pool.

Grimming-Therme Bad Mitterndorf

Most family-friendly of the three: giant slide, kids' pool, swim school.

33 min by car (34 km)

The Grimming-Therme offers a wonderful view of the Grimming massif. Adults can relax in several swimming pools, a sauna village with bar and a relax area. Especially for younger guests, the Grimming-Therme is an experience: a giant slide, kids' pool and the Flosse swim school make this thermal bath particularly family-friendly.

Wellness-Alm St. Wolfgang

Largely underground, outdoor pool with mountain panorama, separate nude and textile areas.

34 min by car (30 km)

The Wellness-Alm in St. Wolfgang has a rustic charm all of its own. Most of the building was constructed underground. On the surface there's an outdoor pool with stunning panorama, nude sunbathing area, alpine sauna and sun loungers. Inside there's a nude area with several saunas, smaller pools and quiet rooms, plus a textile area with cold plunge pool, whirlpool and large pool.

Seven Senses Bad Ischl

Small studio opposite the Lehar cinema — massage, mani- and pedicure, very personal.

12 min by car (11 km)

If you enjoy a good massage, mani-/pedicure or other care treatments in a small but fine studio, we can warmly recommend Seven Senses in Bad Ischl. Located directly opposite the Lehar cinema, "Gitti" welcomes you with a friendly smile and takes you along on a relaxing treatment.

Which thermal bath suits you?

With children: Grimming-Therme (giant slide, swim school, explicitly family-friendly). Note: the Narzissenbad Bad Aussee does not allow children — it’s a pure adult wellness house.

Couples without children, quiet: Wellness-Alm St. Wolfgang (FKK + textile separated) or the Narzissenbad with its mountain panorama. After a ski day: Eurotherme Bad Ischl (lazy river, sauna world).

Bathrobes and slippers can be rented at most thermal baths for €5–8 — or bring your own.
