Because the original building of “Haus Edelweiß” could not be restored, we decided to build a completely new house from scratch. With the help of our incredibly creative and experienced friends, Christoph and Thomas from “Musler & Lahner GmbH” and with a lot of attention to detail, our plan was brought to paper.
The house is built from wood, in the style of a traditional “Goiserer summer villas” but at the same time we wanted to meet the most contemporary standards. The combination of creativity and craftsmanship gives the building its unmistakable charm but yet harmonic appearance – “Villa Salzweg” was born.
The house is named after the so called “Soleweg” which runs directly past it. Below the grounds of “Soleweg” lies the world’s oldest pipeline and with 34km in length it has been pumping “Sole” – a mixture of salt and water – between the salt mine in Hallstatt and the final production facility at “Saline Ebensee” since 1607. “Soleweg” is a popular footpath and is the ideal starting point for extensive excursions through the Salzkammergut on foot or by bike.
