Poaching has a long tradition in the inner Salzkammergut. In earlier times it served to feed hungry mouths and was seen as a sign of resistance against authority.
Bird-catching, the “hunt of the common folk”, is also part of the region's history. This apartment tells of the wild, untamed side of the region: antlers on the walls, lots of Swiss stone pine and warm cosy blankets capture the feeling of a rustic alpine hut without being kitsch.
At 18 m², the south-west balcony of the Poacher apartment is the largest in the house. Room for the whole family on a corner lounge built from old logger sleds, a generous dining table and of course the electric grill — all with a view of the Kalmberg mountain.
Look closely and every detail tells its own story: a historical 1931 hunting trophy in the hallway, hand-crafted chairs at the dining table, crossbow bolts with hand-painted targets on the kitchen wall and traps for traditional songbird-catching on other walls — no detail without a regional reference.
On the functional side, the Poacher is the only one of our apartments with a separate toilet — a real plus when two couples travel together or the family heads out in parallel. At 67 m² it is also the most compact — but with the full equipment: walk-in rain shower, fully equipped kitchen, Swiss stone pine beds in both bedrooms.
