Hallstätter Seerundlauf

A popular running event against a world-famous backdrop — various distances around the Hallstättersee, in early summer. A course you won’t forget any time soon.

Gosauer Ballonwoche

Visual spectacle in January: around 30 hot-air balloons rise against the Dachstein backdrop in the back Gosau valley. Passenger rides also available.

Dachstein-Events Obertraun

Sporting events around the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car — from the trail run to the Free Mountain festival and the ski-touring opening. Programme changes each year.

Salzkammergut Krampuslauf

Impressive traditional procession — always on 7 December. More than 800 Krampus and Perchten figures move from the Bad Goisern market square through the village. Loud, dark, impressive.

Faschingsumzüge

Three parades, three villages, three days. The Goisern carnival parade on Shrove Tuesday in the village centre, the Ramsau parade on carnival Saturday in the Ramsau district and the St. Agatha parade on carnival Sunday in the St. Agatha district — Agatha and Ramsau alternate every year.

Bierzelte im Goiserertal

Summer is beer-tent season in the Goisern valley. Three regular events: the Ramsau beer tent, the Untersee beer tent and the St. Agatha beer tent — all with live music, regional food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Hallstätter Fronleichnamsprozession

One of the most impressive lake processions in the Salzkammergut. On Corpus Christi day, worshippers cross the Hallstättersee in lavishly decorated wooden boats — a scene from another era.

Kaisergeburtstag Bad Ischl

On 18 August Bad Ischl celebrates the birthday of Emperor Franz Joseph I every year — festive mass in the parish church, ceremony in front of the Kaiservilla and a torchlit procession in the evening. The historic highlight of the imperial spa town.

Ausseer Fasching

Famous for the unique carnival figures — the Flinserl (clad in glittering sequins) and the Trommelweiber (men in women’s clothes). Shrove Monday in the centre of Bad Aussee.

Narzissenfest Bad Aussee

The best-known spring festival of the region. In late May / early June, elaborate figures made of millions of daffodils are presented at the auto parade through Bad Aussee and the water parade on the Grundlsee.

Altausseer Kiritag mit Bierzelt

A tradition-rich tent festival in Altaussee — the Kiritag is the fairground with stalls, fun park and folk tradition, the volunteer fire brigade’s beer tent is its heart. Early September, with live music, Ausseerland specialities and a cosy rustic atmosphere.

Wolfgangseer Advent

One of the most famous Advent markets in the Alps — four Advent weekends in St. Wolfgang and Strobl with the huge floating lantern on the lake, the peace ship and the traditional lights.

Gosauer Bergweihnacht

Atmospheric Advent market in the back Gosau valley — one of the most wild-romantic in the region, on three Advent weekends between wooden huts and mountain panorama.

Kunstmue-Festival

Two-day indie/folk music festival in late July at the Kunstmühle in Bad Goisern — free entry, free camping and Sunday morning session.

Lehár Festival Bad Ischl

High-calibre operetta festival in the Trinkhalle and the Kongress- & Theaterhaus Bad Ischl — from mid-July to late August, the festival makes Bad Ischl a centre of classical music.

Sommernächte St. Wolfgang

On five balmy summer evenings (June to August), the centre of St. Wolfgang turns into a culinary mile: 16 restaurants and farmers serve specialities right on the lakeside square, live music (folk, pop, jazz, brass) plays until 11 pm, drinks are served until midnight. Free entry.

Ausseer Sommernächte

On four Tuesday evenings in July and August (7 to 11 pm), Bad Aussee’s shops open for late shopping, innkeepers and farmers offer sweet and savoury treats, and young musicians give the famous “balcony concerts” from the Stadtpalais balconies. Free entry.
