Visiting Hallstatt? Why to stay in Bad Goisern
Hallstatt is one of the best-known places in the world. That is exactly why it is often very busy during the day – most visitors only stay for a few hours. If you want to experience Hallstatt at a relaxed pace, stay next door rather than right in the middle: in Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt, about 17 minutes away by car.
Fewer crowds, more calm
Bad Goisern doesn't get the day-tripper rush of the famous hotspots. In the evening the village belongs to locals and guests – after your excursion you come back to a quiet place.
Everything you need on holiday
Compared with Hallstatt, Gosau and Obertraun, Bad Goisern has the better infrastructure: doctors, a pharmacy, supermarkets and shops are right in the village. With a railway station and bus connections you get around well without a car, too.

Early or late: In the early morning or late afternoon, when the day visitors have left, Hallstatt shows its most beautiful side. From Bad Goisern you can set off on the spur of the moment.
By train and boat: The station is an 8-minute walk from the villa. The Salzkammergut railway takes you to Hallstatt station, and from there the boat crosses the lake to the village – the loveliest way to arrive.
