Located next to Kurpark and the playground, this romantic museum provides extensive information about the history of Bad Goisern and the \u201cLandler\u201d, a minority that were prosecuted because they were protestants and subsequently forced to relocate to Romania during the imperial monarchy. Whilst the ground floor is dedicated to \u201cLandler\u201d, the emphasis of the first and the second floor lies on the colonial landscape of Goisern-valley, shooting in Bad Goisern, Goisern shoes, famous inhabitants of Bad Goisern, painter, folk-culture, folk-art and much more.<\/p>\n

In the historic building of castle \u201cSchloss Neuwildenstein\u201d, in the centre of Bad Goisern, is Hand.Werk.Haus (translates to Hand.Craft.House). Spread across two floors, you can visit an exhibition that tells you about crafts and craftsmen. The ground floor houses a beautiful shop that invites you to browse through clothes, traditional costumes or small gifts.<\/p>\n

Hallstatt\u2019s salt mine is the oldest known salt mine in the world. Salt started to be mined here as long as 7000 years ago. During the Bronze Age the village experienced its first economic boom. A funicular takes you to the free-hanging skywalk with a \u201cworld-heritage\u201d view, burial grounds and salt mine exhibition.<\/p>\n

Every year Emperor Franz Joseph I. spent all his summer months in this beautiful villa and thereby made Bad Ischl, in the 19th century, a hot spot for a courtly lifestyle. Even today Bad Ischl has a reputation for being the \u201cEmperor\u2019s City\u201d. Today the rooms of the imperial family, including the old furniture can be visited on guided tours.<\/p>\n

Corridors of pure, orange-red blazing stone-salt, a mystical chapel in memoriam of Saint Barbara, a mineral chamber and a salt-lake can be admired in Altaussee in the \u201cmountain of treasures\u201d. On a guided tour you can visit the active salt mine and learn extensive information about history and mining.<\/p>\n
